Radically Authentic – My Word for 2012 to Live By

How many times have you used this word “Authentic”

AND

did not really understand or know what you were saying?

It can come at you like a fast ball, a curve ball or even a spit ball.  This is the most misused word I have seen recently, besides “Awesome”, which I take responsibility for 1/2 of it’s use on twitter ;)

I started on a journey a few years ago that I halfway stepped off of and have been paying the price.  I asked to live a more authentic life.  Being able to read and be exposed to some of the most distinguished minds in personal development and business, here are …

A few of my personal favorites are:

The Big Leap Gay Hendricks

Making Ideas Happen Scott Belsky

Authentic Leadership Development Pauline Serice

Uncertainty Jonathan Fields

What it Meant

Each of these books and my journey has given me the inspiration to be living life in a more full and authentic manner.  Many times that included scraping my shins and banging my toes.  Here are the lessons I have learned in this process:

One that meant, I said yes when I meant it.

One that meant, I settled for nothing less than what I wanted.

One that meant,  I let go of people who chose discord over peace.

One that meant,  I stopped lying to ME.

One that meant,  I took better care of myself health wise.

One that meant, I became more intentionally conscious.

Where is Yours?

Ask questions that point  in the direction you’re wanting to land?

Are there opportunities for breaking through limiting thinking?

Where is the gap in what is now VS what is wanted?

That Gap is your guide

Take the Journey

Looking at the people I brought in to my own world this past year I see a beneficial pattern…

Heather Frey has the mindset I want to own around fitness and health.

Don Cooper and Andrea Waltz both possess the mindset I want for my business concerning sales.

Stephanie Calahan lives the level of productivity and organization I desire for my business and my personal life.

Rusti Ann Blanke has the integrity and compassion of what is perfect in a mediator and trainer of conflict resolution.

Pauline Serice lives the deep and authentic life that I aspire for me and YOU!

This journey only needs you to believe you are important enough to be willing to:

Make Time for you FIRST

Put yourself on the Schedule & Calendar

Drink more Water

Eat Live foods

Give your body the Sleep it deserves

Tell yourself YES more

Forgive Yourself first ( will make it easier to forgive others)

Live with Abandon

Find the FUN

Bless your Children (whether they be human or animal ones)

Be a Mentor

Live a Willingness

Enjoy the Blessings

This past year I have watched my Mother blossom in her spirituality in ways that have been a delight to observe.

She has continued to teach me in her loving way, that she is learning form her own mistakes still at her age ( she is private, so I respect her desire to keep that unnamed).

This year she has been living a new ritual that has brought us both a happiness, peacefulness and satisfaction…

She has been blessing her child.

As parents we look back on how we did and have a whole new epiphany of what we could have done,  as well as how we could have parented better.  This was something that was a big ahh haa moment for her.  She realized that she had not ever blessed me and contemplated the effect it had on both our lives.

Imagine if you blessed your children from the moment of their birth.  How different would both your lives be by expressing and accepting this form of gratitude?

Now, when my Mother visits or I travel she takes a moment to bless me and you know what I just realized this Thanksgiving, I had not blessed my own son.  Guess what I will be doing in 2012 to pass on this wonderful tradition.

Now it is your turn

What will you read

understand the meaning

find the gap

take the journey

and/or

bless this year?

Bruce what I am discovering is when we want to retire a word it is because it is not being used well ;). What do you think?

What is your word for 2012? Have you read any of the suggested books from above?

I'll take ANY new word as long as we can retire "engagement!" And, of course, "awesome."

To me the greatest gift of all and the greatest way to be Authentic, is to give back to the world or "Repair the World" as I like to say...

This time of year, who can you touch? Who can you help?
