Where is Your Interview PIP? #Speakchat

Being asked for advice on interviewing is a common occurrence - like any doctor getting asked their advice on a symptom or ache, it comes with the territory.  I am always looking for ways to share insights with speakers, authors and entrepreneurs,  in how they perform in their interviews.  Hey it is my business and expertise — what would you have me think about? ( she says chuckling)

This Sunday waiting for Agape’s service to go live — yeah I watch my church online surprise! I saw a picture that had me spitting my coffee across the bed.  One of my tribemates Anthony Iannarino posted this pic below. ( If you have not read Anthony’s blog it is stellar CLICK >>>here The Sales Blog!)

Then a friend of Anthony’s,  John Richardson said “Great metaphor. Impossible becomes possible with a little P.I.P … Priority, Ingenuity, and Persistence.”

Speakers – Authors – Entrepreneurs

Where is your PIP in crafting better interview skills?

Priority – you have spent months, years and thousands of dollars crafting your skill of speaking/presenting in a captivating and powerful manner.

Have you also given your interviewing skills the same attention?

Being on the other side of the mic is a different dance. One that when left to figuring it out once on the dance floor can have folks looking at you – well like where did that bloke ( or Gal) come from?  Not the intention we want to evoke when we finally got that media interview.

Make it a priority to improve one of your interviewing techniques a month.  It will repay you a thousand fold – promise.

Ingenuity – you worked hard crafting your branding and building a message around what differentiates you in the market.

Have you given that same attention to aligning your interviewing message, so that it is aligns to your business objectives?

Giving off the cuff answers in an interview is equal to speaking off the cuff as a professional speaker, not what high paid professional speakers deliver in their business — why do it in your interviews?

Persistence – that trait every successful speaker, author and entrepreneur posses who has a high value game in business.

Where will committed persistence and upleveling your interviewing skills place you this time next year?

Knowing when to bring in a professional to uplevel your skills is the choice of smart professionals. Being able to consistently improve your interview delivery will capture the eyes of the media and the hearts of the audience.

Like the owner of the car with their wheel locked on the street, will you find your PIP and rise to the heights you desire for your business in 2012?  I sure hope so, otherwise all these great tips I share each week have gone for naught ;)

How will you sound this time next year in your big media interview?
